Subotica
Upon arrival we will have a tour around the city: Freedom Square, surrounded by parks and foundations, represents the central square of Subotica and the place where numerous concerts and fair take place all the year round. The most famous building of the Freedom Square is the City Hall, the biggest and the most beautiful Vojvodina buildings and a typical example of Hungarian secession. In front of the City hall the National Theater is located – the first monumental public building in Subotica, at that time called «Szabadka». City Library founded in 1890 is located on the eastern side of the Freedom Square. The building is recognizable for its yellow facade that was designed by Ferenc Raichle. Family Palace of Raichle is an unforgettable site of Subotica. It is inspired by folklore traditions, colorful houses of villages, leaves and exceptional impression and gives a feeling of harmony thanks to it carved gates, floral and heart ornaments. We will also visit Serbian Orthodox Church of Holy Ascension, Subotica’s Synagogue, one of the most beautiful secession buildings of this region and then City Museum, Franciscan Monastery and Church and Saint Teresa of Avila Cathedral.
Palić Lake
After visiting Subotica we’ll drive to Palić Lake that gave a name to the whole region. The lake stretches in the northern part of Vojvodina valley between great rivers Danube and Tisa, presenting natural riches from one side and rich and luxurious villas from another side. Prehistoric Pannonian sea that had been covering this surface left after it hectares of sandy soil, this is why wines produced here are called „sand wines“. Wine growing tradition here is more than 2000 years old, sandy terrain and mild climate create conditions for growing Italian Riesling, Pino blanc, Hungarian Ezerjo, Merlot, Cabenet Franc, Pinot noir, Cabernet. Visit to one of the most famous region’s wineries „Zvonko Bogdan“ that represents both modern top technologies of production and traditional acrhitecture of Palić.
Salaš Jelen
We’ll proceed to “salaš” – authentic Vojvodina restaurant „Jelen“ surrounded by woods and valleys, organized lunch with local delicacies. You will feel the right spirit of Vojvodina plains and get a proof of Serbian hospitality.
