Palić

Palić lake is touristic pearl of Serbia that offers to the visitor many natural and cultural gifts, relaxation and fun. Thanks to high insolation (2100 hours of sun per year), clean air, cultural and historical buildings in Secession style and preserved natural ambient every tourist may feel romantic charm of Palić. The lake stretches in the northern part of Vojvodina valley between great rivers Danube and Tisa, presenting natural riches from one side and rich and luxurious villas from another side. This natural park – modern and attractive center for relaxation – is only 8 km away from the town of Subotica. Palić beaches are supposed to be remains of Pannonian Sea. The lake’s water used to be salty, and locals that lived near the lake found out healing qualities of its water and mud. Analysis showed that water and mud contain sulfur, rubidium and strontium that have a healing effect on skin, rheumatism, nerve and venereal diseases. After the first pool and hotel were built at Palić, rich people from Subotica started to build their villas on the coast trying to exceed neighbors in beauty. In 1912 a new pool, water tower, Big terrace, Music pavilion and drinking fountain, male and female beaches were built. Nowadays these objects are the most recognizable part of Palić.
The Lake of Palić is a special attraction and one of the best European lakes for water sports. Palić is perfect for swimming, rowing, sailing, water ski, and is a real “paradise” for fishermen. Beached, thermal pools, cycling and walking tracks are well preserved; along the lake you may also find courts for team sports. Among all natural and cultural attractions you may enjoy local wineries that serve traditional northern Serbia wines: Zvonko Bogdan, Vinski dvor, DiBonis, Čuvardić, Tonković, Maurer…
