Prince’s Arsenal

Prince’s arsenal represents a unique military-industrial and architectural complex in this part of Europe. This unique area consists of industrial plants zone and workshops built in the end of 19th – beginning of the 20th century and proclaimed as cultural object of high importance in 1979.

In Topolivnica, the biggest industrial company in Serbia in the 19th century that originated from former Old Prince Miloš’s Arsenal, the first electric machine worked, whilst in „Čaurnica“ object in 1884 the first electric bulb in Serbia was lighten up.

Industrial architecture was taken from Germany and France, and what in characteristic for the Old Arsenal is the use of red brick, wooden balconies and stairs, unequal roof covered with tile and high chimneys that create a unique building. Prominent exposition of armory and weapons origins from 19th and 201th centuries and is exhibited in the Museum of “Old Foundry”.
