Raichle Palace
Family Palace of Raichle is an unforgettable site of Subotica. It is inspired by folklore traditions, colorful houses of villages, leaves and exceptional impression and gives a feeling of harmony thanks to it carved gates, floral and heart ornaments. Palace is obviously dominating over other buildings in the surrounding. Its charm and unique image makes the Palace a masterpiece and inspiration for future architects.
Ferenc Raichle, architect from Budapest, moved to Subotica in 1896 and in 1904 he build his house in Hungarian secession style. Central part of the house is played by a big vault decorated with Zsolnay ceramics. In the lower part massive wavy line of the fence is holding metal gates decorated with hearts. The whole building is rich with details, every decoration is a real masterpiece. All the architectural elements and decorations are in a perfect harmony.
Raichle Palace is facing a vast park that had the same Raichle name. Nowadays Raichle Palace hosts Modern Art Gallery called „Likovni susret“. It preserves more than 1200 of art objects of the most influential artists from the 20th century from former Yugoslavia – paintings, graphics, sculptures and ceramics. The Gallery organizes personal and collective exhibitions, performances and other cultural events.
