Drina
The river Drina originates from Dinaric Alps near Šćepan polje town in Montenegro where rivers Tara and Piva merge. As Drina originates from mountains, its waters it exceptionally clean and its colors change from green to clear and azure blue. This is why Drina is described as one of the most beautiful rivers in Europe. Drina is not navigable at its complete length of 346 km except for a part from National park “Tara” to Perućac Lake near Višegrad, a town in Bosnia and Herzegovina. At very this part famous “Drina regatta” is annually organized along with activities such as a tour to famous “Drina rock house”, this is why more tourists come here more and more often.
Untouched flora and fauna in Drina’s canyon have a number of endemic and relic species, it is a real natural phenomenon 700-1000 m deep third world’s deepest after Colorado in USA and Tisa in Serbia. Drina’s canyon has been a rafting site for a long time is attracting more and more sportsmen that enjoy steep and dark cliff of Tara and high rapids of Drina. Transparent water of Drina hosts variety of fish species, a real trophy is Danube salmon, but fishermen come here to catch carps, chub, catfish, barbel, pike and river trout.
