Discover the charming town of Topola, a historic gem in Šumadija, crucial in the 19th-century Serbian Uprising against Ottoman rule. Your journey begins with a visit to Oplenac Hill, famous for its wine-harvest festival. Here, you’ll explore the Museum Complex of the Karadjordjević Family, where history comes to life. Visit the stunning Church of Saint George, built by King Petar I Karadjordjević in 1930, where the royal family now rests. Nearby, Petar’s House, originally built to oversee the church’s construction, is now home to the Museum of the Karađorđević Family. Enjoy a tour of the Royal Winery, once the private cellar of King Petar I, celebrated for producing wines enjoyed by Europe’s elite courts and finest restaurants.
Take a drive to the village of Vinča, nestled in the heart of the Oplenac region. Known to the ancient Romans as Vincea, this area earned its name for producing exceptional wine. As you make your way through Vinča, you’ll stop at the the famous “Aleksandrović” winery, once the proud supplier of wine for royal cellars, including the renowned Triumph. After World War II, Živan Tadić, a former royal wine-maker, returned and rediscovered the secret behind Triumph, reviving it to become one of the best wines in Serbia. Today, Triumph is a true gem, celebrated by wine lovers across the country.
After a delicious lunch break in Topola, we’ll head to our final stop: a charming, family-owned winery, where you’ll be treated to a wine tasting paired with delicious snacks. This small, local winery offers a true taste of the region, featuring authentic wines crafted with care and passion by the family that has called this land home for generations. Depending on your group size and tour date, we’ll handpick the perfect winery to suit your experience, ensuring a personalized and memorable journey.
