Day 2: Vibrant Capital of Serbia

Your journey through Belgrade begins with a panoramic tour highlighting its architectural diversity and history, from bold Brutalism to the emerging Belgrade Waterfront, a symbol of modern transformation. As we cross Branko’s Bridge, you’ll get a glimpse of New Belgrade’s distinctive skyline, featuring landmarks like the Palace of Serbia (SIV), Belgrade Arena, and the modern Ada Bridge. Continuing, we pass through the Dedinje district, home to the Residence of Miloš the Great, embassies, grand villas, and the Museum of Yugoslavia, reflecting the country’s complex history.

Our route then takes us past the monument of Stefan Nemanja, a key figure in Serbian history, and through Slavija Square before arriving at one of Belgrade’s most iconic landmarks – the Temple of Saint Sava. We’ll stop for a visit and devote time to this impressive sanctuary, the symbol of the city and the fourth-largest Orthodox temple in the world, adorned with stunning mosaics.

From there, we continue along King Alexander Boulevard, passing notable sites such as the National Assembly, before reaching the city’s bustling pedestrian zone, where the walking part of our tour starts.

Strolling through Belgrade’s vibrant streets, we arrive at Republic Square and continue down Knez Mihailova Street, the city’s lively cultural and shopping centre.

EXPERIENCE MORE / Serbian Daily Routine: Your guide will take you to a hidden gem close to the main districtthe citys oldest tavern intriguingly known as ? (Question Mark), where youll try Serbias most cherished traditional drinks: coffee and rakija. Engage in lively conversation with your guide, who will share fascinating stories about local customs and the UNESCO-protected art of making šljivovica”, Serbias renowned plum brandy.

Refreshed and immersed in the city’s spirit, we will walk through the historic Belgrade Fortress and Kalemegdan Park, where you’ll be amazed by the stunning views of the mighty Sava and Danube rivers. Day 3: Northern Serbia Highlights

Fruška Gora National Park hiking – S. Karlovci with wine tasting – City of Novi Sad

Heading north, you’ll see how Fruška Gora Mountain rises above the flat, colorful fields of the Vojvodina region. You’ll visit the Novo Hopovo monastery, one of 17 Serbian Orthodox monasteries hidden on the mountain. Built in the 15th century, it was once an important center of learning where Dositej Obradović lived and worked.

Next comes the more active part of the tour. A two-and-a-half-hour hike with several great viewpoints gives you a full feel of peaceful Fruška Gora. After the hike, you’ll continue to Sremski Karlovci. With the Patriarchy Palace, St. Nicholas Church, and Serbia’s first modern gymnasium from 1791, the town truly earns its “museum town” nickname. It’s also known for wine, so this is a perfect place to visit a traditional winery and taste a local variety.

Colorful facades with kibic-fenster windows, a cannonball in a wall, street musicians, and cozy passages will let you know you’ve reached Novi Sad and its lively center. As the 2022 European Capital of Culture, this multicultural city offers many sights that make it easy to fall in love with.

Overnight: Belgrade

Day 4: Golubac Fortress & Iron Gate Danube Gorge

Golubac Fortress – Kapetan Mišin Breg – Iron Gate Gorge Cruise

Leaving Belgrade in the morning, your journey follows the Danube, the second-longest river in Europe. As you travel east, you’ll follow the path of ancient civilizations toward the landscapes of the Đerdap (Iron Gate) Gorge. Your first stop is the legendary Golubac Fortress, guarding the river at its widest point. Enjoy views that show why the Danube almost looks like the sea.

Continue to the serene eco-ethno complex Kapetan Mišin Breg, offering stunning panoramic views of the gorge. Wander through the open-air gallery Man, Wood, Water, where wooden and stone sculptures reflect the harmony between nature and culture. This peaceful setting invites you to slow down, breathe, and connect with the beauty of eastern Serbia.

After lunch in the area, your adventure continues onto the water. Set sail through the Iron Gate Gorge, the narrowest and deepest section of the Danube. Glide between towering cliffs as you take in the monumental rock carving of Dacian King Decebal, the riverside Mraconia Monastery, and the ancient Roman plaque Tabula Traiana, commemorating Emperor Trajan’s extraordinary engineering achievements.
